Really cool, and great information about their structure!

I love your scap talk! They are one of my favorite species to grow. I have many of them in my tank. Here is one in bloom called Scap. digitale. Blooms only in spring through summer sequentially. In the same cool tank I have breve, gibberosum, bicolor, fimbriatum, anchoriferum, microdactylum and a couple unidentified. Such a treat to see their blooms like little horns!

This is the best shot I could take with the lens I have.

The picture quality isn't good only because the flower is absolutely tiny. I would have to have other equipment for better magnifying power.

The lip is a bit more evident in this photo, but the edges in the photo are hazy. It's still discernible only because the lip is a dark burgundy. In the photo it is between the sepaline tails and appears as a burgundy triangle. The lip, however, is not necessarily triangular. To find out what the lip looks like, the magnification needs to be stronger.

It's funny how this frontal shot of a Scaphosepalum verrucosum flower makes it look like it has eyes.
