Consider putting it into a large jar or vase. Over the mouth place a bowl you fill with ice. A metal bowl may work better. Cool nights are more important than cool days.

Aww, this bums me out.

I was hoping for your success. I have wanted to try to grow this one myself, but I live in a place that is ridiculously hot for about 9 months of the year.

I trekked the Inka Trail back in 2013, way before I was into orchids. I remember seeing an incredible flower and my guide told me the local Quechuas believe it to be the world’s most beautiful flower. I snapped a photo (with a crummy camera) and lo and behold, it was the Masdevallia Veitchiana.

On a side note, I use to embed photos from Imgur into my posts, but for some reason it isn’t working anymore. Anyone know why?

I've read this post like 2 yrs ago and now again. Love it!

In the terrarium, I drop a plastic bottle of frozen water at night near the fan, this cool down the lecca bottom setup.

As I mentioned last year the Veithchiana is a tall and big plant and moving around (picked up) is not an option, however, I attempted to set up a cool-gel bottom..but is too much trouble

I use IMGUR for all my images that I post here. I click on the image in IMGUR that I want to load and then 'copy' the 'Direct Link'.

In OB click on the 'Insert image' icon, and paste in the URL you copied from IMGUR.

click OK and you should be done! That's what I've just done here with first pic I had available

Not sure why, but I went back and tried again and it worked this time. 🤷🏻
