Yes Tommy, go ahead. Just leave my name on there like it is please.

How come no one has ever done this before?

jeremyinsf 03-24-2014 10:35 AM

They have. Just not a lot. On my own searching, I found a few cases where people have either tried to or did make them. M. uniflora seems to be popular for it due to the shape and the color it brings.

Just as clarification for newer hobbyists ... it's not actually a natural (?real?) genus but rather a man-made genus.

As Jeremy stated, it has been done before. Not terribly often and there is the likelihood that many if not most of the hybrids thus created haven't been worth marketing.

Nice flower! Would have been very neat if it had inherited the Drac parent's hairy/spiny flower. Jeremy, out of curiosity, is the flowering habit upright as that of the Masd. parent or do the spikes grow down or horizontally as with the Drac parent?

Five is the number of different ones I've seen made, but this is the first time I saw one in person, and for sure the first time I've had one of my own. Yes, totally man-made.

It grows upright.
