Hi everyone
last year I did post here about my Scaphyglottis prolifera, how rapidly it does grow, and how it did triple in size in last 3 years but did never bloom for me, no matter what I tried outside, little light, shade, lot of light, bright light, direct sun, watered every day, fertilized often, watered only every few days, not fertilize often, I did it all in past 3+ years, nothing! This year I did move my huge plant to bright sunny spot and water and fertilize the same like Vandas, and guess what, there was ONE tiny bloom on that huge plant in December. I was thrilled. I did cut many divisions within last year, sent to some members here, gave to friends, and one small division was mounted in August on my driftwood setup in small vase. This is the funny part - these plants in the vase, mounted on the driftwood, do really get pretty much neglected, that means, only day light, no extra lights added, no fan, watered every 2-3 days, hardly ever fertilized. BUT it seems, that neither Haraella nor Lepanthopsis ever mind this, they both bloom constantly and thrive there. But to my huge shock, that small division of Scaphyglottis that gets misted only hardly 2x a week and never fertilized is BLOOMING with 5!!!! blooms, I mean, compare my mother plant and this tiny nothing, it is ridiculous! So, to sum this up, NEGLECT is the way how to threat this baby, as it seems like that's what it needs!
