Default I think my Pleurothallis excelsa is spiking!

Take a look at this:

Is that what I think it is? It doesn't look quite as impressive in the photo as it does in person.

Also, there's something else going on weird on the same plant:

It's another leaf...what is this about?

That is a keiki on the second picture. Mine does that. Let the plantlet mature some, grow roots. Then you can remove it and pot it up. Mine is blooming right now too.

Yes, they just grow little plantlets at the base of the leaf. Many Pleurothallids do this

Thanks all! This must be a happy plant since it's growing like three new leaves out of the moss in the pot (actually wood basket), has a keiki, and at least one spike (it looks like more may be forming on other leaves!).

That leaf looks big in the pic, how large is it?

This plant has very large leaves, about 11" tall and 5" wide. Note these pics are really bad and in the width one the leaf is curled backwards so you don't see the entire width.

I guess that why they named the species excelsa!

Yes, it's a very nice plant. It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as fussy as a Masdevallia or Dracula either.
