Default Dractonia and my zone

Hello, I think dractonia are so neat! I have heard that they are cool growing which is non existent where I live, Central Texas region, 8+ hours from Galveston, 3.5 from Austin etc...

Is there ANY Chance at all that there may be a dractonia that would be happy in my zone? Yeah I know I should probably stick with catasetum but hey a girl can dream right?

Never heard of Dractonia. Do you mean Dracontia?

I'm not real familiar with Dracontia, but I see different species described as cool, warm, or even hot growing. A little research into the various species should find some for your climate, and many are miniatures that would be fairly easy to give a cool controlled environment. You may also see these listed as Stelis instead of Dracontia.

Stelis allenii or sp. - intermediate to warm growing
Stelis eublepharis, ciliaris, hallii, nexipous - intermediate growing

I suggest to visit Andy's website and look for Stelis, and there is many that are intermediate or even intermediate to warm growing!

Andy's Orchids has a stelis that I really loved. It's the one labeled (Mex. sm. green)

Really cute and an intermediate grower!
