I never knew that some Restrepias make their flowers on the back of their leaves. How weird.

Its always nice to see your posts. Great photos, great info, great orchids. What's there to loose?

It looks like the flower is mimicking an insect crawling on the leaf...do we know if this indeed the case?

ronaldhanko 10-23-2013 09:33 AM

I never thought of that. I'll have to do some research.

It does look like a bug on the leaf. I'll have to find this plant and add it to my collection. It's gorgeous

Sorry I missed your post, Rosie. There's a whole group of Restrepias that hold there flowers this way.

I'm going to have to look out for some of these and get some more Restrepia. A nursery I like visiting always has a lot of Restrpia, one of their employees is a particular fan of them I think. I don't get to go very often as it's several hours from here, but will keep a special eye out for ones like this next time.

Hope you find some, Rosie.

I just brought home a tray of Pleuros to babysit for a friend, and this Restrepia is one of the plants!! I am so excited.
These guys need a little greenhouse love and I hope to be able to talk the owner of the plant out of a division or perhaps a trade.

Wonderful, Liana.
