Dracula cordobae
This orchid is endemic to the cloud forest mountains of south western Ecuador at elevations of 750 to 1000 meters
Plant blooms in the summer through winter with a single successive 10 cm wide flower. The bloom is distinguished by its rounded scoop shaped lip. I am thrilled that this orchid gave me several spikes this blooming cycle.
I keep this in partial shade, cool to intermediate conditions in my bathroom. I inherited this plant in sphagnum moss a couple of years ago from Clackamas Orchids of Oregon. This plant needs repotting to refresh the moss which had decayed due to humidity because I water regularly and keep it evenly moist. I feed it fertilizer weekly weakly alternated with seaweed mix.

Very cool. It's too bad David moved and closed up shop; he had lots of great pleurothallids in his greenhouse.

Thanks for the visit!
Yep, I was surprised when David closed shop and moved....I am hoping wherever he is now, he will soon open shop again and sell more orchids....where are my favorite vendors going? White Oaks Orchids of CA also stopped selling orchids....

David took a job in Bend; when last we spoke he said he'll still be judging, but he's not planning on keeping a greenhouse, he was going to grow indoors under lights.
It's too bad Theresa Hill doesn't carry more masdevallias, she's switched to mostly paphs now
Oh well, PeruFlora & Gary Meyer will get a little more of my business I guess...
