Masdevallia Decade
The pictures don't do this one justice. The color is two-tone, like vietchiana, only red spotted main color and purple hairs. It gives this bloom a sort of "flip-flop" paint job.
This is the second bloom just starting to open. It reminds me of a hummingbird.
Both blooms and plant.

Adam, I got this plant with a collection I purchased. The seller moved and sold all of his Pleurothallids to me. It's the only one I have, however, there are a few Masd. that are not marked and could be Decade. I'll have to wait until they bloom.
I can contact the seller and ask about it's lineage. I don't know who the parent plants are.

I haven't been able to find much information on this plant. So far it seems to be doing well with the wild temperature swings we've been having. It seems to be pretty hardy so far.
I'll be contacting the original owner for more information |

The parents on this one are M. Urabamba (which is M. ayacabanax M. veitchiana) x M. decumana. The ayacabana and veitchiana contribute the overlay I believe, while all three contribute the rich red base color. The form reminds me more of decumana with downswept petals. Do you know if the grower was the breeder?

Thank you for that information. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the breeder, but I don't know for sure. I'll email him and see what he says.
The second bloom opened yesterday. I took a couple of pictures of it. I really like this color, almost burgandy.
Here you can see the purple haze from the little hairs.
