Masd. veitchiana

The first bloom on this one for me; it came in with plants from Ecuagenera last June. The magenta overlay is a bit difficult to capture on my camera, but I like the flower a lot. I have another that will open later this week; it will be interesting to see the difference in flowers between the two plants.

The first shot is the second bud to open on the plant from my initial post; there is quite a bit more magenta overlay in the dorsal of this bloom, though it may show a bit differently after it's open fully.
The second shot is of veitchiana var grandiflora; there is not too much difference between this plant and the veitchiana; the flower is quite a bit larger and the stem is about twice as long as my veitchiana; the stems on this guy are easily 2' if not more! I'll post a follow-up pic after this is open for a few days, I snapped a shot before I left for the weekend...it will be interesting to see how/if the color progresses at all.
