Most of the Saltatrices group have more or less tubular flowers, but in this case it's more pronounced. They actually look a bit like orange slugs up close.

I thought Ron's pictures are from gardens and wild.
Ron, are these all what you grow????
If so, I'm speechless.

They are in near-perfect conditions, Tindo, as far as light, humidity, and water go, but I'm still learning - just learned some really cool stuff about fertilizer from the latest issue of Orchids. One of these days I'll do a post on it.

I'm embarrassed. Many of the pictures I post are of native orchids and those I do't grow, in fact many of them are impossible to cultivate. The tropical are mostly miniatures I grow. If you check the links under my name, especially Orchids in Bloom, there's several posts that describe my wardian case. Just look through the list of tags for Orchidarium.

Lovely presentation of those blooms. I had one and somehow managed to kill it after it seemed to be doing well??

I've not found this the easiest to grow. It is a bit temperamental and if not happy it sulks.
