Default Yellow Masdevallia (no i.d.)

I got this one last March. I was at a local OS show and sale, there were quite a few Masdies available for purchase. I had not yet tried growing any; I figured maybe it was time

It was in bloom then, and just continued to spike and bloom for quite a few months, until I broke down and repotted it in August. It was potted in nasty old and packed sphag, as well as growing over the side of the pot a fair amount. After that, no more spikes until these appeared a bit ago ...

Even with no name - I just love it! Blooms a lot! Vivid yellow blooms that are a good size, and held well above the plant (two of the spikes currently are shorter than others have been).

Thanks for looking

Lovely. Looks like one of the Falcon's Gold, Falcon's Sunrise, etc. crosses.

It's beautiful!
I decided to try one but I got the wrong one. Mine is a poor bloomer. It's called Andean prince. I've been trying to decide whether to try another hybrid.

Thanks Ron - looking at some pix of those, yes, it is quite like them - another I found with a very strong resemblance is Mary Staal 'Sun God' ...

Whatever it may be - it's a keeper!

Thanks - I think so too! Definitely was a good choice (despite lacking a name) for a first go at Masdies - been a great bloomer, and an easy grower - except for suffering a bit during extreme heat (no A/C)

Thanks

Aw - sorry your's hasn't done very well - I bet some OB members could recommend some others to try, if you'd like to try a different one

thanks I love the color, too! It's why I chose this one, despite the lack of a tag ...

I'll have to see what is available here. Yours is a very sunny colour.
