Spectacular. It has a sort of liquid metal feel to it. Thanks for sharing Ron.

The color is incredible, J. I'm going to post another closer shot of it in the near future.

This is quite an interesting flower. Not only the beautiful color and form but the ratio of the spike to the leaves gives it a better chance to be pollinated by insects....

Thanks, Bud. It would be interesting to know what pollinates it.

I assume that small tiny ants and tiny flying insects could do the job. A bee or a fly would decimate its polinia looking at how the pollen might not even stick to the tip of a toothpick.

It must indeed be something tiny. With something this small I need a strong hand lens to find the pollinia and where they go.

I like this one a lot. A little dry you say?? I may have a spot for this one in my terrarium. Where did you get this one from?

I purchased this from Ecuagenera as B. hirtzii, a much more desirable species, but it turned out to be this rather common species (Ecuagenera gets a lot of names wrong). It did not do well or flower until it had developed a very thick pad of moss above the top of the pot in which it grew. The moss, obiously, did not hold a lot of water.
