Hey Bud, that's a real beauty! I love any Masdie with this kind of lineage and it does not disappoint.
I also found that more light helps. Do you think that you gave them more light when you moved them closer to the window?
This seems to be a new cross?
Maybe you would be interested in this article I wrote since it deals with Masdies like M. regina, it's sister species and their hybrids. Masdevallia section Durae, or Regalia - Orchid Board

Beautiful color, but is it just me, or does the flower seem a little distorted? Is the shape the same for all the flowers, or just that one?

That is the form of the flower. They look like that. Just as you look at a cala lillie; they have the same form but sometimes the petals swirl in a distorted kind of way....
