This is a compact miniature orchid species well worth having in your collection. I inherited this three years ago mounted on a piece of cork bark and currently have 7 newly opened flowers and after a couple of weeks the petals curl outwards. The tallest leaf is 6" high. This will bloom for months, off and on all year.
Octomeria is a new world genus and I have no data for this plant. Literature says it is from Brazil. It was given to me by a friend and I have never seen it being sold anywhere; it’s not rare but not easy to find. The flowers are white with red on the lip and are approximately 7/8" across. Each leaf produces flowers sequentially at the place where the leaf joins to the stem.
I grow this plant in cool to intermediate conditions. I give it year round water (no rest) with weekly weakly Algoflash fertilizer alternated with seaweed mix and given moderate light at the east facing window of my kitchen. I let this approach dryness between watering
