I just saw these in bloom at Golden Gate orchids in San Francisco. Now I just have to have one. Stunning plants!

Have one of these beauties... How cold can you grow ignea? I have lost one here in Vancouver Canada one summer overnight, and we have mild weather. Now it is winter with almost 100% humidity at all times, can I grow it outside when temps are between 8c to 11c during late winter and early fall?

I was told that the cool growing ones can be grown outdoors in the ground with a raised bed and coarse material, I believe like bark or lava. Mine have been happy outdoors so far as long as they don't get direct sun. I'd have to protect them from an actual frost. But most years we don't get that in this particular locale. I've not gotten an ignea yet, just a few cool growing hybrids.
