Masdevallia Gold Dust
This is a primary hybrid of Masd. rex x Masd. veitchiana. I got it from Ecuagenera in Feb. It had several old blooms when I got it but they didn't do justice to it. This is my first re-bloom of it and it is a good size with gorgeous colour and texture. I think a lot of the veitchiana shows on this one with the purple tinge on the hairs in the throat.
For those looking for more warmth tolerant Masdies, Pepe at Ecuagenera told me they are starting to do quite a bit of breeding using Masd. rex which is more warmth tolerant than many.

Festive bright color. The shape and form of the flower reminds me of spring flowers like jonquills and daffodills with tails....
I also got a couple Masdies from Ecuagenera ....really nice clumps and very healthy....hopefully it blooms for me soon

Thanks WhiteRabbit, Bud and Bill. 2 years ago I don't think I would have considered trying a Masdevallia. Now I have half a dozen or so

They do tend to grow on you. I started with 1 about 2 years ago and now mysteriously have 8.
