11" from the T5 bulb is probably too close. I don't think a pane of plexiglass in between dissipates the light very much. I have masdies about 18-20" from the T5 bulb and they seem to do OK. I seem to remember the foot candle reading being 800-900 FC at 18".
The new leaves will be smaller and somewhat washed out/ yellow tinged if the light is too strong. It will still bloom but the plant itself will look stressed.
