Mine make a lot of growth, just shorter
There is hope then!! Normally shorter growth to me means an unhappy plant, but this is good news! Its a new genus to me, so all info is appreciated!

And some masdies need different light to others. I would definitely try to reduce the light.

Hi

I do not grow masdevallias jet, or, I just accuired one actually, but I remember that I was told that there are viruses doing this to masdevallia plant if the condition is bad for the specie.

My thoughts are the following though:
The heavy spotted leaf, on the right on the first picture, looks like a fungus attack to me. The leafs with a black tip could be salt buildup or possibly high light. The leaf that got dry with out black parts or spots I would say it could be due to high light contitions, you could have dried them out with heat radiation from your T5, even though your air temperature is not exceptional high.

Unfortunate some of these thoughts do not fit with your conditions but may be something to conider

Good luck
/M

11" from the T5 bulb is probably too close. I don't think a pane of plexiglass in between dissipates the light very much. I have masdies about 18-20" from the T5 bulb and they seem to do OK. I seem to remember the foot candle reading being 800-900 FC at 18".
The new leaves will be smaller and somewhat washed out/ yellow tinged if the light is too strong. It will still bloom but the plant itself will look stressed.
