masdevallia tovarenis (hybrid?)
It was sold to me as a species, but I don't think it is. Not that I mind, I just like it.

Masd. tovarensis shows as a species in OrchidWiz. Your tag may be misspelled as you are missing an 's' in your spelling.
Very lovely! Maybe I'll see you in Edmonton in a week and a bit?

Silken: thanks, my spelling is a bit off sometimes, as I can't always decipher hand writing. I'll be at the show all day Friday (I have to work that weekend). I'm so looking forward to it.

I think you are right to think it is not M tovarensis. It has some yellow spots and also some color in the column.
M tovarensis has semi-transparent perfectly white flowers.
But your is still very nice, if it got the multiflowering habit of tovarensis, it will be great ! Don't cut the spikes...

I agree tovarensis is pure white in color. Could be a hybrid, or different species.

I have a tovarensis currently in bud- it's first blooms for me. I got it from J&L and their stuff is very good and well-labeled, in my experience. I'll try to post a picture when it opens.

That one is lovely, by the way.

I agree with the others - the color in the flowers and the shape are both clues - tovarensis has no color and the shape is different - not as flat and rounded.
