pleurothallis question

Ok i have two of these little buggers and have put them in same care and conditions as my masdies. if they where doing great there would be no questions so i think they may stay too damp. Are there any general care for these. Do they do well mounted and misted daily?

Mine are all mounted and I mist three times a day. Some dry a little between waterings. Some stay wet. I have good luck.

Some may require warmer temps than your Masdevallias. Would be nice to know what species you are dealing with.

I have a Pleuro sp. NOID and a Pleuro. luctuosa. I believe they like warm and moist. But I was given them 2/ 3 months ago and they are starting new leaves / growths under T12 lights. I put them in smal net pots with sphagnum and inserted the whole net pot/ plant in a slightly taller glass.

One thing I am wondering is if it would be better to water them with distilled water rather than tap water that I use from my other plants.

What he said.

A large proportion of Pleurothallis spp. are actually intermediate growing.

Some are cool growing.

Some are warm growing.

The P. luctuosa is considered warm to hot growing and grows in very wet conditions according tot he information I found. Perhaps that will be of help to you.

As to water - that all depends on the quality of the tap water. If it is bad you'd be better off with distilled water or possibly rainwater (though you have to be careful with how and where it's collected). Our water here is good enough that I can use it straight from the tap.

Thanks - here some photos. It just started growing new leaves. I have some black spots on some old leaves. That is what made me wonder about water quality. Or could it be some fungus or bright light? I noticed the new leaves are dark purplish and then they turn lighter when they open. also the other NOID seems to be producing a lot of keikis on the leaves themselves.

It was given me from someone that grows in a greenhouse / conservatory so initially it had a setback and I was worried of losing it but now it is growing new leaves that look fine.

These should both be pretty adaptable. I'd grow them both intermediate if I could, but do grow the first and grow it cool (don't have an intermediate growing area) and it does well for me.
