I think the temp change between night and day may be the problem with this idea.
Mine goes down to that sort of temp in the greenhouse at night, but it's then slowly warmed up and only to about 7C-10C most of the winter.
I would grow them in a clay pot with moss, then an outer clay pot with lecca beads between the two pots. Then keep the base (below the level of the moss) wet. This will cause cooling due to evaporation from the clay.

"Stretch" Your Growing Conditions
I'm not sure if this will be enough or not, but it helps. I grow mine in the inner clay pot/moss with just a tray of beads underneath to help with temps in the summer. Even with the single clay pot it can feel really cool even in mid summer.
