Default Masdevallia Machu Picchu

This is my friend's masdie that I am caring for while she is in Peru and visiting Machu Picchu. What a coincidence that it should bloom for her while she is there! I hope it lasts till she is home and can enjoy it. There is another spike with a bud ready to open soon too. It is usually shown as almost fuchsia pink, but this one is a rich burgundy as shown here.

I was hoping to go there one day but it's out of the question now; I'd have to rest for a year after that climb lol.

Me too. It was always near the top of our travel list, but never happened. Now I have two artificial hips and I somehow doubt I could make the climb. However you can take a bus ride to Machu Picchu and still see it. I think we still might do that some day.

Yes, I've seen there is a bus ride to the 'top' but the climb up the hill would almost kill me even though my village is built on a slope like the north face of the Eiger!

Maybe you could hire a porter I will get some details about how difficult or not when my friend returns.

Excellent! Thank you! I was thinking of combining it with an orchid tour (via Ecuagenera) but I have to fly to Brazil, then fly to Ecuador, then bus it to yadda, yadda...then Macho Picchu - a three week trip. Methinks not!
