Like the most of my Masdevallias. From April/May till Oktober i grow this one on the outside, shady. In the winter the plant is on a cool windowsill, northside, regularly watering.

Thanks for the info Tom - this one is definitely going on my list. I'm just starting out with masdies and am focusing on cool to intermediate growers.

But beware, this species is growing slowly and a little bit difficult to cultivate. If you're searching for cool growing Masdevallias i can recommend M. paivaeana, abbreviata, oreas, prodigiosa, pteroglossa and sanctae-inesiae to you. These species are really easy to cultivate.

Thank you for the recommendation! I have one plant from your list so far - prodigiosa. I also have ignea, coccinea, amabilis, and glandulosa. I have not had them long but they all have new growth and seem to be doing well outside on my sheltered balcony. Temperatures don't often go over 23 degrees.

I will look out for the others that you mentioned! Hopefully I will be able to grow many more masdevallias in time.
