New Masdies have arrived!
Three new Masdies were delivered in the post today!
Masd. coccinea
Masd. ignea 'Fireglow' x aenigma 'Midnight'
the third is just labelled 'Hybrid', but its in flower so I'll post photos a little later today.
Weird thing is that they sent a 'bonus' plant - now you would have thought that they'd picked up on the fact that I ordered 3 cool growers - so what did they send as a bonus??? A mottle leaved Paph! Its also in flower now. I'll see how long I can keep it alive....
Off to play with (and photograph!) my new babies.

Thanks, Gloria. Everyone should have a masdie!
I think its a great idea to throw in a surprise bonus plant... how cool is that?! But I don't know that I can make a Paph happy.

OK, here is the first photo of the 'hybrid'...
It has 5 flowers open, 2 about to open, and 6 more spikes developing - what a nicely prolific little plant! Leaves are about 5 in. Flowers are 1.5 in.

The Paph doesn't have a label even... I'll be sure to get photos of it as well and post them in the Paph forum. What can I say... it was a free orchid - so whatever it is, I'm happy!
I'm pleased as punch with the plants overall. I don't see any spikes on the other two, but they are nice 'big' (well, big for a masdie) plants, so there shouldn't be too long a wait for flowers. The ignea x aenigma cross has two new leaves forming and looks to be in great shape. The coccinea has one new leaf, but two previous leaves have crinkles and twists - so easy to get this on new growth.

Very nice!! I've heard that the M. coccinea is very difficult. How are you keeping these?

Dorothy, I've already submitted my three photos.
I love the colours too, and I can't wait to see colours of the other ones.
Tin, do you know what it is about coccinea that is difficult? I had planned to just keep it on the shelf near the window where the other Masdies have been growing. Maybe I might need to revise that plan? It is a really large plant, so it won't go in the fish tank where the little things are growing (restrepias, dryadella, lepanthopsis, etc.) but they are just next to it so they get the same light, very similar temps, just slightly less humidity (the humidity inside the fishtank -which is open topped for good air circulation - stays above 70%).
