Default Restrepia dodsonii - first flower!

This was a new addition 6 months ago... in that time, it has put on 2 new leaves and last week, its first flower!

Its a little one... and it made my heart skip a beat when I saw the flower. :-)

It has a total of 4 leaves, so is still a quite young division. The two older leaves are about 5cm, the two new ones are nearly 3cm now. The photo shows one older leaf and one new one. The flower lip was about 2cm and total flower size less than 3cm.

I just found a bud on my Dryadella hirtzii - talk about tiny!

It is 0.5cm - and I can't wait to see it open. You can be sure I'll be posting photos of that one.

shakkai,

Love your dodsonii. It is one of the tiny ones and considered a rare Restrepia species. When if forms some keikis make sure you separate them and grow them on. Although it is a rare species it is an easy species to grow and flower and one that will flower even when temps are high.

No worries about high temps here! We got up to 20C today - and that's the warmest its been in weeks! I will keep an eye out for keikis.
