Congratulation Philip,in our place it is not easy to bring them to bloom I started last year to grow some and they are thriving so far...my friend who lives in NP has a few in bloom!great growing!

There are, but it doesn't get all that cool here either.
Maybe you can try Masdevallias in the section Durae. All those have large showy blooms.
Or Masdevallia wendlandiana. These are very low elevation growing Masdevallias (the lowest recorded elevation they were collected at were at around 150 m).
If you're specifically talking about Masd caudata...
There were a few days during the early spring when temperatures shot up to the high 80's F to low 90's F, and it weathered just fine. Acted like nothing happened.
Philip, what temps do you grow yours in? My average temp is 23°C /73°C .... all year long... I really want one of these as you know!
