I bought another one...
years ago before I grew orchids at all, I mounted a masd. in my terrarium in sphagnum. It eventually died.
Last night on impulse I bought an amazing psychadellic masd.
My plan is to put it in fine bark in an air pot and place it in one of my converted aquariums. light level is about 1500fc CF, humidity 70-80% but little air circulation.
Please critique and offer advice - I'd love to make a go of it this time and will make major changes if need be.
Thank you all

I once tried mounting a Masdie using sphag inside a terrarium. It rotted in less than a week.
I think your new mix is good but will demand constant attention make sure it does not get too dry. Otherwise I think it will work nicely.

I don't know. I keep mine pretty cool, but I don't know if that is helping or not as it has not re-bloomed for me yet.
Mine is M. Sunset Jaguar 'Psychedelic Sunset'.
Which one did you get?

Here is what mine looked like in bloom. It last bloomed in May of '09.
I grow it in a netted pot, with sphagnum, hanging on the inside rim of an aquarium. The aquarium has 4 inches of water, and an ultrasonic humidifier that throws out fog for 9-10 hours a day. There is a fan that moves the air constantly and distributes the fog when thats on.
I also have about 12 other Masdies/Orchids around this one that help conserve the humidity. I also have an ultrasonic fogger to help with keeping the top of the plant humid as well as a cool mist humidifier. Pheww, its a wonder Im not growing mold on my walls.

Yea I did. The setup sounds perfect, and yea, its working wonders on alot of them, but no blooms for this one yet, or Red Baron. Just growth. I guess thats good.
I really wanted to try the other psychedelics they have too.

Thats nothing. I live in NYC for 27 years and never visited New York Botanical Gardens till 4 years ago, and have yet to visit Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
