Default Masd. Highland Monarch

This plant was purchased from Parkside Orchids in Pennsylvania, USA (I think they are out of business now.) It did well at first, but languished and quit blooming for a few years. This last winter has been quite cool for us and the plant stays in 60s (F) day and night and seems to do better. Also I have transplanted it twice and I think that set it back for a while. I tend to water daily with "pure water" mostly with a few dunkings in dilute MSU mix each month. My Masdies are all planted in Paph mix and sit in a south-facing box bay window where they get full sun when it shines. I also supplement with 5 CF fixtures. The lighting for this picture is full sun. Thanks for looking.

Hey Ross, great to see you here again

As I've already said to you I'm going to have to keep an eye out for this one, really nice.

My Masdies stay quite cool so I shouldn't have problems I think (veitchianna seems to like me and that's a real cool grower).

Do you find in bright light you get very short leaves? I grow my masdies quite bright and all three of the ones I have grow lots of leaves, but all shorter than the leaves they had when I recieved them.

Hey Ross!!! Long time no see. We've missed you.

Anyway, love this one!
I also found out that full sun can really help my masdies bloom. I keep mine hanging from an open aquarium on a south facing window. A lot of them have been blooming all winter long. People always write or say, no direct sunlight for Masdies, but if you acclimate them properly, not only can they take it, they seem to thrive on it!

Hi Ross! Welcome back!

Nice flower, and beautiful colour.

Thankfully, Parkside is still in business.

Nice one Ross. Parkside is still in business, they've just scaled back a bit. As a matter of fact, they are a sponsor here now.
