For a Restrepia, this is big and showy - blooms are about 1 1/2" tall. It blooms off and on all year. I grow it in a small clay pot that's about 2/3 full of styrofoam, with the top third sphagnum moss.

To be honest, I know nothing about these little guys except what I've learnt on here (as I've yet to try and grow one) but I really like the colour and markings on yours

Roughly how long do the blooms last?

Wonderful Duanne, I really like this.

Jennyfleur, these are great little guys. You can get Restrepia's from Burnham Nursary in the UK if you are interested. I was unsure if I would be able to grow them to begin with, but I'm starting to get the hang, one one of mine has just opened a flower this morning and has at least two more due to open soon

Wow! I love it. I need to add it to my collection. Where did you get it?

Jenny, Restrepias are great little plants. I just discovered these earlier this year and love them. Everyone in my orchid club who grows them has them in with their Masdies.

Check with Colin Howe there in the UK. He is the go-to guy on them. The Restrepia Collection

Cheers.
Jim

Jim,
I got mine from Dan Newman at Hanging Gardens. If he doesn't have any more, send me an email and I'll get a piece going for you.

Thanks Rosie and Jim It's interesting Jim that you say people grow them with Masdies as that's another one I've been doing some looking into lately (since I've seen some great ones on here - including one from Rosie if memory serves me well!).

Honestly, what would I do without all you guys on here showing me how to spend my money?!

I won't hi-jack Duane's thread anymore, but come spring buying times I might be posting some 'advice threads'

Same here, the Masdies and these are in together. I grow them both in moss with porus clay pots, even thought I hate moss for other types of orchids. Both of these seem to really like it.

They do really well in with Masdevallias. Mine are growing in with Cattleyas in a very warm greenhouse - definitely NOT ideal conditions for them! They do all right, though. I grow them in moss in clay to help keep the roots a little cooler, and it seems to work.
