okay, from the top, and digging around lately it has pretty good roots, and new root growth. but i have never take it all the way out.

Insufficient humidity could also be an possible cause. This time of year when heaters come one can be problematic humidity-wise

Trust me, Masdevallias are very hardy if you get the right ones for your growing area.

The super cool growing ones from 2,600 m on up is a big no-no for most people in the US.

Fortunately, most Masdevallias don't grow that high up. Only a few do. Most are cool to intermediate growing.

I just repotted a few about a couple weeks ago. None of them are dead or dying.

Just thought of a question for you to answer...

If the plant's roots were rotting, where do you think it would show the first signs of rotting?

a.) The part of the root that is closest to the plant.
b.) The part of the root that is furthest away from the plant (i.e. the root tips).

the answer is B. i wasnt saying i shouldnt unpot because i looked at the top. i was saying that i looked from the top, and will unpot soon.

so i took a look....

My masdie has OK roots. a few rotten though there was SOO much sphag and treefern packed in there potted it up w/ about half of it.

dont know what to do next..HELP
