Malformed Black Widow
I try to post my failures as well as my successes. Here is a semi-failure. Masdevallia Black Widow. It began to spike about a month ago and I immediately noticed that the spike wanted to hang down. Perhaps seeking higher humidity levels. About a week and a half ago it began to emerge from the floral bract and I noticed it was malformed. The region of the sepals was folded into the rest of the flower bud and it was not correcting itself. Finally it opened only with my help and it looks pretty bad. I believe I allowed this plant to dry out a little too much a few times during the development of the flower.
M. Black Widow = M. ayabacana x M. cucullata
