I think Masdevallias need slightly more warmth than Cyms but they are so variable it depends on the species or hybrid. I grow my Cym's and Zygo's down close to freezing so I am not surprised they are ok so far. The Masdevallias can survive if you give them protection and the leaves aren't all damaged. Having said all that I grow all my Cyms, Zygo's and Masdevallias side by side (different levels of shade at different ends of the shade house) so the Masdevallias probably do get a little more protection from the cold with two layers of shade cloth.
