This is the largest flowering Pleurothallis known. It has been placed into it's segregate genus Acronia. The leaves on this species are HUGE, but the growths are shorter than some species (like Acronia titan). This thing has TONS of buds and flowers, but I haven't been able to photograph any of the Pleurothallids nicely... sorry for the poor photography.
Very cool, so how big can the leaves actually get? And how big is the bloom.
Leaves can get about 13cm wide, and over 25cm long. Flowers are about 4.6cm long, and 3.2cm wide.
This species doesn't produce a bad odor, I would say the equivalent of most Dracula species; a fungus smell (they are typically pollinated by Fungus gnats)...
