Default Madevallia veitchianna - My very first Masda bloom

So finally my Masdevallia veitchianna has opened for me

I bought this plant as BS about a year ago and it tried to spike in June/July but the bud blasted. Now it's opened it's first flower and my first ever Masdevallia flower.

The flower is not as large as I've seen on some veitchianna, but it's just soooo pretty!

Also, I have a second spike which is about the size the first one blasted at, so I'm hoping it gets through to flowering like this one. :

It's stunning Rosie! Nice job blooming it! I love Masdies but unless it's temperature tolerant it won't do well here. My summers are too hot.

That really is something - nice work Rosie. That is one spectacular first result. Send pics of bud #2 if/when she opens.

What a beaut!

Fantastic, Rosie! Great color and form. The size is all about culture and temperature. Keep strong roots on it - your winter blooms will be bigger then the summer ones. Congrats on a fabulous orchid.
