Thanks Kay and Camille :biggrin:

There is another spike/bud growing though so we'll see when that opens. I grow this in my greenhouse as my house is too warm for it. Last winter I gew it in a spare room which we didn't heat and it was next to a window which was open a crack. I'm going to have to heat the greenhouse just a little over the winter to ensure nothing out there freezes but plan to keep it at just arround 5C which is what it was getting down to where it was last winter and what I've heard it needs. The other trick which seems to be working so far, is to grow in porous clay as that can cool it well in the summer. |
Rosie;
What a beautiful flower. I love the colour and partterning. I didn't realise this was your new avatar pic until now. I've got to get one of these. Cheers. Jim |
Just sooo pretty is right. It glows.

Thanks Jerry & Jim,
Jerry, I know... I'm just in :cloud9: |
I didn't know what to expect for length of time blooming but it's now been open over 3 weeks so I'm really pleased because that's not a short lived flower like I thought it might be.

Lovely, congratulations on your first Masdevallia bloom.

Woo-hoo Rosie!!!
|
Masdevallias are not short lived flowers. The minis can last for as long as an entire week (yup, the full 7 days).
Congrats. Good job! |
