What does a new Masda Spike look like... do I dare hope I've got one!
Ok, I've been watching this thing on my veitchianna for a while and not dared to hope for a spike... but it's just double in size in 2 weeks and I would like to know... is it possible I have a spike?!
If not what is it, it's not growing from the same place as the new growths come from.

Thanks Ron. I really hoped it might be. It started late last year and stalled over the winter but seems to have got going again now.
If it blooms that will be my first ever masda bloom, so I'm really nervous about it doing ok!

Thanks Sonya and Nic. I am sooo excited but also soooo nervous, I just hope it keep developing and actually gets to the point of opening.
I'm really please how well my two Masda's have done for me. The first (this one) seems really really healthy and the second is growing new roots and leaves as well (but has a long way to go to catch up this one).

Congrats Rosie! Remember, masdie spikes originate from the base of the leaf, not next to the base of the leaf. Looks like you got a spike here, but you should be able to confirm it yourself with that info.

Thanks Tindo... definately coming from the base of the leaf... that's one reason I imediately spotted it was different to the usual growths (which this one has 10 of just now).
