Default 3 new little mass's

I guess they are doing okey even if I paid too much for them, but what is the little sticks that came in the mix?

I had to take them out and look at how they were done The roots were tightly packed in all sphagnum .They are 1 " plants stuck in way too big a pots and then surrounded by these twigs. They really look like grapevine to me. I had to taste them..I still couldn't tell what it is. But Hey if its good enough for my orchids I should be able to eat it too right?

this is where they live most of the time with lots of AIR and hooomidity with some of their little mini orchid friends....sometimes They all like to sit in the window on rainy days

You forgot to list what one's they are! Congrats on the new additions! And the tiny sticks, well to me looks like tree fern pieces, tree fern is often used as a mount or broken up into pieces and used in potting medium.

they are a redwing, angelheart, and Elle, and small, ...smaller plants seem to need more exacting care..I don't know if I exactly caring for them properly yet. In an effort to see what types of orchids work best for me and my limited space, as you can see I have a little bit of all I can find..Keeps me from the phals at walmart. we will do our best to get a handful of blooms out of these, say in about 5- 6 years ...I see some with these with lots of plants and and lots of blooms in 1 big pot. I begin to realize what an investment some of these can truly become

Take heart - Masdevallias grow fast. Never let them dry out completely.
I'm not crazy about "mixed media" potting, where you have a plug of sphagnum surrounded by a dryer medium. The risk is that if you water appropriately for the tree fern, the sphagnum plug stays too wet. I repot all orchids when I get them. If they have this situation going on, I carefully peel away the sphagnum plug and put the whole thing into new medium. I personally use sphagnum for Masdevallias, but they grow well in tree fern, fine bark, etc. just fine. I use some plastic pots and some net pots for them. Good luck!
