Default Masdevallia caesia

Masdevallia caesia is endemic to southern parts of the Western Cordillera of Colombia. It grows at elevations of 1600 to 2000 m.
After almost four years waiting this plant is finally blooming for me.

It’s great when after a while you can see result.
Congrats!
It’s a quite challenging orchid to grow!

Gorgeous!!!! OH my GOD! I love this species, gorgeous leaves, beautiful yellow flowers. Does it smell bad? That makes it even cooler.

I do believe they smell bad. I hope mine is thinking about blooming soon.

Yes! This one is a big stinker! I can always tell when it is in bloom because when i open the orchidarium door my first instinct is to check the bottom of my shoes! A very strong odor of dog doo! I can be a challanging plant to grow but it is well worth the extra effort because it is so attractive bot in and out of bloom.

Such an amazing bloom! Thanks for sharing.

BTW, I love the phrase "when I open the orchidarium door." If I could only convince the wife to go for something like an orchidarium....

It does, and Scott described smell very well. My plant is living in a shower room, which means that there is very good ventilation there, so it’s not so dangerous.
Small up-date, today the plant looks like that
