Masdevallia black widow - what am i doing wrong??
Default Masdevallia black widow - what am i doing wrong??

Hi,

I bought a Masdevallia Black widow (ayabacana X cucculata) about 2 months ago and since I brought it home it's been doing great. It had a small growing leaf on it when I bought it and it continued to grow healthily until about 5 days ago. The new growth quickly became yellow and dropped today.

I've been reading on this forum and elsewhere about care conditions and am providing it with moderate - bright (but not direct) light, plenty of humidity and am keeping it moist. What's wrong?! I really want to succeed with this one as I imagine the flowers are beautiful.

Can anyone provide any tips?

thanks!

That sounds like a nice cross would you let me know where you got it. I would guess more air not so much that you lose your humidity.

Specifically, air movement around the leaf, the base of the leaf. If it stays too wet you get problems.
