Masdevallia Help Needed
Default Masdevallia Help Needed

My friend just got me a Masdevallia from Mountain Orchids, which is very healthy, and I am wondering how often I should water. it is completely in spag. I have a dracula that I have been wateringveryday, also potted in spag, which seems to be doing good. I just want to try and keep this plant alive and healthy
The last time I had a masdie, well

Oh you shouldn't have said where it came from....now I can't peel my eye's away from their website....I'm in total heaven!

What type of pot is it in? I keep mine pretty moist, but they are in plastic mesh pots.

I used to have Masd Sunset Jaguar! And I got it from Mountain Orchids too!

They're easy for a Masdevallia.

Pot in moss allow a slight dry out, then water again. Don't completely dry them out.

They're pretty temperature tolerant. I grew mine outdoors all year round. Easy to bloom.

Grow in shade. Provide moderate to high humidity (60% - 100%).

These are fun, you'll like this one!

Neglect. Depression. Heartbreak (girl, not orchid, orchid heartbreak came later). Need I say more...

I know it's lame, but it happened.

Otherwise I'd still have most of my collection.

I still have a few survivors from the meltdown. Mostly Cymbidium hybrids, C. intermedia var aquinii, Bifrenaria tyrianthina, Laelia superbiens, Isochilus linearis, Dendrochilum tenellum, and some others.

Next time if a girl bails, I'm not shedding a tear, I've got my plants. They'll be around no matter what.

I'll find another girl later.

I'm rebuilding my collection almost from scratch.
