Default When should I repot Masdevallia veitchiana?

I have had a Masdevallia veitchiana since last august and it's potted in moss in a 2' net pot.

It seems happy enough, but I don't want to leave it too long and have the moss break down. I don't generally grow in moss, but this seems happy and I've just bought some new moss as I've decided to carry on with it for this one.

Is there a time of year, or a certain point in it's growth cycle that I should repot?

As I don't know how old the moss is (it seemed very high quality and fresh when I bought the plant) how long should I leave it in that moss?

It seems fairly dormant just now. It grew a lot after I bought it but has stopped (I'm trying with semi-success to keep it colder for the winter so I'm not suprised it's dormant). Should I wait to repot until it's growing again or am I OK to do it now?

I have switched all my Masdies to AAA Sphagnum moss in net pots and they are doing marvelously. I will use a 1 year rule of thumb to repot, ideally when new growth is evident. Nice thing about net pots is that you can see (and smell) if something is going wrong with the moss.

Thanks Nick,

I think the small net pot is the only reason that I have managed to keep this one in moss as I don't usually get on with it. Lots of air can get in and keep it drying enough as well.

Ok, so repoting when there is new growth is what I want to do. I will wait until it warms up a bit and starts growing again then. Thanks for the advise.
