Restrepia brachypus Male
Default Restrepia brachypus

Acquired as a small keiki in 2008 this one seemed to take off quickly and started blooming a few months after acquiring. I grow this one in I/C temperatures in a clay pot with my mix of tree fern/perlite/sphagnum moss under lights.

Nice one! Great colors. Not sure why Restrepias are so underrated. Most of them are ridiculously easy to grow and bloom; they're like little orchid weeds. I'm continually dividing mine and giving away keikis, and they come back even bigger each time.

Very cool bloom, kind of looks like an alien bug.

They're cool but they look too much like bugs to me. I even have a bit of a buggy feeling when I look at my psychopsis...but my husband loves it so I keep it and it keeps blooming away.
