Connie, we also stayed in Cuzco but I would not call it comfortable. There certainly were not many people there. There were only two other people on the mountain. I'm glad I went because it was breath taking, but I wouldn't go again unless there would be some improvements.
The 'Hotel' didn't have locks on the doors, only a bent nail, the beds were very short, not long enough for us to strech out, with a sheet only over the center 1/3rd of the mattress....which was very stained. No bathroom so I guess wetting the bed would be the only option. There was a toilet???? on the first floor, more like an outhouse.
There was no other place to eat so we had to eat there......they only changed the table cloth and napkins one a week. The cooks apron was black,

possibly he didn't change it that week.
Did you need to take that tiny (4 seater) plane from Lima to Cuzco

.....and land on that short runway on top of a mountain?
I do remember many different flowers growing wild there. I wish I had been more into orchids when I was there. There were also many orchids (we were told they were orchids) in Brazil, growing along the mountain sides. Like they say,

too late smart.
