Masdevallia mejiana
This is grown in a clay pot in a tree fern/perlite/sphagnum moss mix under lights given I/C temps.

Wow Tom. You have some great flowers to show today.
Again what does I/C mean in this case. I love Masdas and want to find ones I can grow.

I grow these in the basement under lights so I say I/C because in the summer time temps are more on the Intermediate side (80-85days/60-65 nights) and in the winter time on the Cool side (70-75days(sometimes lower)/50-55nights).
Hope this helps as I am only aware one that is warmth tolerant and that is floribunda. I am not saying there are not more, this is the only I am aware of.

Thanks Tom.
I'm managing to keep mine (veitchiana) arround 50-55 at the momment, but it's been quite difficult to achieve. I'm planning on seeing how this one goes this year and maybe getting more next year if I think I can provide conditions they can live with.
I love this genus, and your pics have given me even more reason for that

These are what i go by
Cold-40-45f
Cool - Min 45-53f
Inter -Min 50f-56
Warm Min 60f-65
i mainly have cool and intermediate Massies, i have a 5c/41f end and 10c/50f end .I think i have a Intermediate-warm massie which is in the 10c end.
Most of my massies are doing very well with these two min temps .
The temperatures in my greenhouse do reach this at this time in the UK,in summer i try and keep the temp at 80f max with a hydrofogger ,shading, misting, damping down, doors and windows open .
Hope this helps in some way

Thanks Masdyman.
I have mine in a cool unheated room which tends to be arround 10C-12C most of the time. I open the window ocasionally and it's been known to get down to 1C in there (I was worried about freezing the masda then, it was ice and snow outside the window).
I want to get a green house for the cool growing chids. I would have to get more of them to make it worth it though... hey what am I saying... that's good thing not a bad thing

Very cute! Since you grow these under lights, how strong of lighting do you give them? What kind of bulbs do you use (T5's?) and how far away from the bulbs do you grow them, or what are the foot candles? I'm currently struggling with my Masdie's I bought that are supposed to be intermediate growers....

I have a bank of 5 of the cheap T5 shop lights (10 tubes total) I got at Lowes. I use a combination of 5 cool white and 5 warm tubes. I have most of them about 8-10 inches from the bulbs with some a little further than that.
