Wagering permitted - give me your best guess!
This pleurothallis, which I labeled "cf quadrifida" (it came tagged Pleuro species - Guatemala) has at least 40 inflorescences forming.
Normally, I would just wait. However, next Saturday (exactly one week away), our local orchid society hosts its annual Short Course (featuring Greg Butler of Oak Hill and Francisco Miranda from Brazil as speakers) which also includes an AOS-judged tabletop orchid display.
I don't remember how long these buds take to finish forming and begin to bloom - who wants to bet?
Will some open in time for the show?
Or the next day!
Or tomorrow, and all fall off the day before the show?
Bearing in mind that orchids are certainly contrary creatures...
Does anyone have this information at his/her fingertips?
Whatever it *chooses* to do, it will make a very fine picture with all the flowers open!
