Default Masdevallia Anochecer

This is an intereisting primary hybrid between Masd. peristeria and Masd. panguiensis. The flower is relatively large, tails included!

I like the small spots and I love the tails. I have been in Sao Paulo and appreciated all your beautiful flowers....and sunshine. All your plants look so healthy and I'm sure the climate helps.

I can only agree, Marilyn, climate here is really good for orchids, especially for Cattleya Alliance. But, since my growing area is located in the country, 80 miles away from the big city, I can also grow some cold lovers like Masdevallias and Draculas!

I love these hybrids that include members of the section durae, or now in the genus Regalia. Amazing hybrid! Thanks for sharing. I want to get myself an M. or R. panguiensis(what ever you prefer), and continue my collection of that group. I have titan, ayabacana, princeps and regina. I used to have newmaniana, but an automatic watering device accidentally moved and directly watered that plant ever two days, never letting it dry out, so it rotted.

I also have Machu Picchu

We had 2 exchange students a few years ago, at different times. We visited them, and traveled through Brazil with them and their familes, including the snake farm,

If I were younger I would love to go back again. This time I would more fully appreciate all the different flowers, especially the many orchids which I liked, but didn't know much about them at the time . "Too soon old, too late smart".

I would also be more careful to avoid sun burn

This is a very interesting primary, Tindo. The plant is 14 cm high and the flowers, including the tails are the same size. Coincidently, it is bloom now with four big flowers. The photo below was taken 10 days ago when two were still in bud.

I am also trying to increase my collection of Masdevallias, but you need to be careful, because once you get started, these flowers are very addictive!
