Masdevallia caloptera
First time flowering seedling. It's a very small plant and only 3 flowers on the spike so far. It's a dainty little spike too. I discovered it today just going through my plants, I really didn't expect it to flower. It can get more flowers on the growth so I would expect more next time.
I think it's cute anyway.

I grow it in sphagnum and grow it outside all year round. It grows cool so I bring it inside with other plants on hot days in the middle of summer.
70% shade in winter and an extra layer in summer. I don't use a lot of fertiliser - maybe 1/4 strength once a month.

Very nice! I think the pattern and colour combo is very pleasing to the eye.

Congrats on the bloom! I love Masd. caloptera. It's on my list of Masdas to get if my first one is successful.
