Default Cryptophoranthus schenckii Cogn.

Curious Brazilian species, this Pleurothallidinae has closed flowers with only two side windows through which pollinators get in and out. As is common with these subtribe the same stem can give several sequential flowers during several years.

Hmmm...strange pollination strategy; though I bet the plant would say otherwise! Do you know what critter pollinates this guy?

Steve, I can't be positive about the pollinator(s), but I would not be surprised if it were some small ant!

Rosie, isn't it a strange flower? As far as orchids are concerned, we should be used to often come across strange flowers, but they are much more surprising than we figure out, aren't they?!!

Mauro,
Curios is a great statement about this wonderful little plant.

Thanks for sharing yet another unknown to me...and for broadening my curious horizon!
