Restrepia trichoglossa
Really tough to get right in and photograph the detail on this little guy, even with the macro setting. Flower is about an inch long. First bloom for this one. Very easy to grow! I read another post that said nobody's collection was too big to make room for at least one Restrepia, so I went out and got one. Now I totally agree... and I think I have to have a few more!

That is the great thing about Restrepias, they don't take up much space. So easy to grow, cute, and lovely blossoms. Carol

Your little guy looks great! I just picked up my first Restrepia this past weekend. Any tips?

It seems incredibly easy to grow. I've got mine in sphag mixed with chopped tree fern fiber. I read that they like somewhat higher light than most Pleurothallids, so I hung it up right under the lights, and the leaves are getting a nice reddish color on the undersides. I also understand that you shouldn't cut off the flower stems when it's done with a bloom; it will produce either more blooms, or keiks. (Mine is actually growing both from one leaf.)

I have a couple restrepias, and agree - they are easy to grow, and a lot of fun as they are so different from the other plants I grow. The leaves are nice especially as they change colors from new growth to old, and as they respond to more light by turning purple. Very fun!
